Dynasty Market Report: Week 7

Managing a Dynasty roster is about building long-lasting success in the chaotic and unpredictable landscape of fantasy football. The idea should be to give yourself as many assets/bargaining chips as possible so that when you move all in, the deck is stacked in your favor. “We are card counters at the blackjack table, and we’re going to turn the odds at the casino.” Today, we look at some intriguing assets in Dynasty, drawing unbiased values from Sleeper ADP, Dynasty League Football, and KeepTradeCut in an attempt to exploit certain market discrepancies. As always, we will be viewing these players and values through a Superflex lens.

WEEK 6 DYNASTY MARKET REPORT

Notable Market Risers

Kyle Pitts TE/Drake London WR - Atlanta Falcons

  • For weeks we have been highlighting Kyle Pitts and Drake London as declining Dynasty assets and must-buy players on the trade market. Those that held strong on the values of the Falcons' two generational pass-catchers are starting to feel justified as both Pitts and London have secured back-to-back top-12 finishes.

Travis Etienne RB - Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Travis Etienne has catapulted back into star territory, scoring two touchdowns in each of the Jaguars' past two contests. A longtime favorite of the Dynasty market, Etienne’s value has skyrocketed with some strong anchoring bias as the Jaguars star running back catapults to RB4/25th player overall.

De’Von Achane RB - Miami Dolphins

  • Injuries be damned, the Dynasty market has made up its mind on De’Von Achane, placing the Dolphins' rookie running back amongst the top-5 positional assets after leading the league in PPG before going on injured reserve.

Brock Purdy QB - San Francisco 49ers

  • One down game against the Browns was not enough to shake Brock Purdy’s ever-rising value as the 49ers quarterback sits within the QB1 tier and QB11/34th player overall.

Cooper Kupp WR - Los Angeles Rams

  • Cooper Kupp’s return has done little to detract Puka Nacua managers from their bold evaluations. However, Kupp himself has risen dramatically following two stellar outings as the Rams' unquestioned alpha wideout.

Jakobi Meyers WR - Las Vegas Raiders

  • Jakob Meyers has out-produced and out-targeted Davante Adams in all four games in which they play four quarters with Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm. Managers are quickly adjusting to Meyers' new pseudo-alpha role alongside Adams, giving the Raiders wideout a significant boost in value for teams aspiring for a league championship.

Notable Market Fallers

Deshaun Watson QB - Cleveland Browns

  • Deshaun Watson is long removed from the consistent top-5 positional finishes that endeared him to Dynasty managers in the past. The Browns quarterback has struggled to find his old identity as an elite asset and the market is no longer willing to wait out the risk involved. Watson has now sat out the Browns' past two contests despite being medically cleared to play, causing immense panic in the Dynasty market.

Dak Prescott QB - Dallas Cowboys

  • The rise of several young quarterback values coupled with Dak Prescott’s lack of production has inevitably forced the Cowboys’ signal-caller down the market ladder, dropping to QB18/84th Overall. Prescott’s turnover woes from 2022 have reared their ugly head once again, forcing managers into a justifiable panic as several other cheap positional options outproduce the veteran quarterback.

Jahan Dotson WR - Washington Commanders

  • Jahan Dotson’s fantasy-friendly rapport with Taylor Heineke feels like a long-lost relic of the past as Sam Howell grows increasingly more comfortable with incompetence. At some point, managers will justifiably blame Dotson himself, and it appears as if the market is beginning to adjust in the wake of the second-year wideouts' poor performances this season.

Rachaad White RB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Rachaad White’s lack of production despite boasting a top-10 opportunity share has rightfully forced managers to reassess the once-favored prospect. White’s receiving profile has not developed the way in which his collegiate numbers suggested and his inefficient running style has caused several low-floor performances this season.

Treylon Burks WR - Tennessee Titans

  • Impatient on any semblance of positive progression, managers have tethered themselves to Treylon Burks’ development and are no longer willing to hold the bag on their investment. Burks is now valued outside of the top 50 wide receivers in Dynasty and faces a tough road to relevance.

Dynasty Waiver Adds

Jordan Mason RB - San Francisco 49ers

  • Jordan Mason appears to be the favorite to take over as the 49ers starting running back should Christian McCaffrey (Oblique/Ribs) miss any time. Mason has seemingly surpassed the oft-injured Elijah Mitchell as the number-two option behind McCaffrey making the second-year back a highly valuable handcuff for now and the remainder of the 2023 season.

Zach Evans RB - Los Angeles Rams

  • Zach Evans was once thought to be amongst the top talents at the running back position in the 2023 NFL Draft class but ultimately fell out of favor with scouts and pundits, falling to the Rams in the sixth round. Evans will now take on a monstrous role as the Rams only healthy running back while both Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers are expected to miss time.

Craig Reynolds RB - Detroit Lions

  • Craig Reynolds is one unfortunate injury away from having the Lions top-ranked backfield all to himself. David Montgomery is expected to miss some time with a rib injury and rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs has yet to be removed from the injury report as he recovers from a pulled hamstring.

Leonard Fournette RB - Free Agent

  • A litany of running back injuries across the league have made veteran free agent running back Leonard Fournette a hot addition to Dynasty rosters this week. Fournette’s best days are long behind him but there is still some tread left to burn on those old tires.

Tyson Bagent QB - Chicago Bears

  • Tyson Bagent is expected to start the Bears' upcoming contest as Justin Fields deals with a dislocated thumb on his throwing hand. Bagent is merely a one-week fill-in for managers in need of Superflex points but the undrafted rookie makes for a fun stash if he can impress in limited action.

Malik CunninghamQB/Bailey Zappe QB - New England Patriots

  • It is absolutely mind-boggling to be a first-hand witness to the trainwreck that is Mac Jones and the Patriots offense yet still see Malik Cunningham and Bailey Zappe have a rostership percentage below 70.0% in superflex leagues. The Patriots have already benched Jones mid-game for Zappe in two consecutive contests and could make a permanent change before the season is over.

Dynasty Roster Cuts

Matt Breida RB - New York Giants

  • Back to waivers, Matt Breida goes. Saquon Barkley will continue to dominate every touch and opportunity while healthy, leaving Breida as nothing more than a roster-clogging veteran.

Mecole Hardman WR - New York Jets

  • Safe to say that if Mecole Hardman was unable to find meaningful production with Patrick Mahomes he is worth absolutely nothing on an offense helmed by Zach Wilson.

Ronnie Rivers RB - Los Angeles Rams

  • Ronnie Rivers was expected to be a hot waiver addition this week following Kyren Williams’ early exit in the Rams win over the Cardinals. Unfortunately, Rivers also suffered an injury and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks in recovery.

Buy Low

Chris Olave WR - New Orleans Saints

  • Chris Olave has cooled off considerably following Derek Carr’s injury. His downfield ability has been minimized as the Saints signal-caller fights through an AC-joint sprain, severely limiting his ability to stretch the field with deep pass attempts. Olave’s utilization may continue to regress as Carr was originally expected to miss several weeks, leaving his health in question for the remainder of the season. Managers should comfortably invest in any perceived value dips as the Saints wideout has proven to be one of the most talented players in the NFL regardless of position.

DeVonta Smith WR - Philadelphia Eagles

  • The ebbs and flows that shift between DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown have seemingly gotten stronger over the past two weeks as the latter of the two teammates has taken hold of a monstrous role. Smith’s talent and offensive situation are enough to dictate major investments regardless of his current streak of poor production.

Sell High

Derrick Henry RB - Tennessee Titans

  • For the first time since his rookie and sophomore seasons, Derrick Henry appears to be locked into a timeshare with another running back. Tyjae Spears is an ever-growing thorn in the side of Henry’s snap share as the rookie running back continues to increase his role and playing time within the offense. Henry is a great asset for teams in a contending position but if you do not boast a top-3 record in your league, you should be pursuing all avenues to maximize profit on Henry’s declining value.

Weekly Market Evaluation

De’Von Achane’s placement on injured reserve had little to no effect on his overall value as managers are more than willing to insulate the rookie asset with a top-5 positional evaluation. Achane may not reach the heights produced in his first few games upon return but it is vastly apparent that the young running back is a superstar in the making on one of the league’s best offenses with the NFL’s most innovative head coach calling the shots. Veteran producers are once again gaining immense value as league markets shift towards defining contenders and rebuilding rosters. Keep in mind that you are investing in points over value and make sure your roster is one of the top powerhouses before making brash decisions to acquire aging talent.
