Week 14 Rookie Report

Welcome to the Rookie Report series. This will be a recurring series that highlights fantasy relevant rookies, how they performed in the prior weeks, and what that means for the future—all done with fun categories! Let’s dive in!

Rookie of the Week:

Christian Watson, WR, Packers

Cheesehead TV

It is just expected at this point that Christian Watson will score at least one touchdown per game. This week, Watson scored through the air and added a second one on the ground via a 46 yard run. He has been using his athleticism to his advantage and it has shown on multiple plays. Watson is big, strong and fast and has become a much needed playmaker for Rodgers and Coach Lafleur. He is a must start at this point.

Other Impressive Rookies:

Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets

There is nothing left to say about Garrett Wilson in these Rookie Report articles—he is always here because he is an absolute stud. He had 15 targets this week, catching 8 of them for 162 yards. He can be a huge fantasy asset down the stretch.

Greg Dulcich, TE, Broncos

Greg Dulcich had a good game for the Broncos this week after several underwhelming performances, leading them in targets (8), receptions (6) and yards (85). He seems to be the only bright spot in a putrid Broncos offense. Dulcich is still a good option at tight end due to the landscape of the position but play with caution as he can disappoint at any time.

Zonovan Knight, RB, Jets

After an injury to Michael Carter, Zonovan Knight took over the Jets backfield and has looked impressive. He finished Week 13 with 90 rushing yards and 5 receptions on five targets for 28 yards through the air. Knight likely solidified a role in this offense moving forward, even if Michael Carter returns soon.

Disappointing Rookie of the Week:

George Pickens, WR, Steelers

In a favorable matchup against the Falcons this week, Pickens really disappointed fantasy managers. Pickens totaled just 1 reception for 2 yards and was seen yelling at the coaching staff on the sideline. Unluckily for him, he has to face the Ravens next week, who have a true matchup rank of 24th against wide receivers. Pickens may be set to disappoint again.

Honorable Mention: Kenny Pickett, QB, Steelers

Keep An Eye On This Rookie:

Chigoziem Okonkwo, TE, Titans

Okonkwo had the highest snap share of his career this week at 58% and he led the Titans in receiving yards while doing so. He finished with 4 receptions for 68 yards, had an impressive 17 yards per catch. The Titans passing game is very up and down and with no real number one target, Okonkwo could be a sneaky play moving forward.

Emotional Moment of the Week:

Connor Heyward’s TD Catch

Before the Pittsburgh Steelers’ game on Sunday, Connor and Cam Heyward went to visit their dad’s grave in their home state of Georgia. Only a few hours later, Connor caught his first career touchdown pass from Kenny Pickett. Cam Heyward admitted that the play made him emotional. It was a great moment for both Connor and Cam, as well as their family in their home state.
