Career Notes:

Jordan Addison attended Tuscarora High School in his hometown of Frederick, Maryland. An extremely versatile young athlete, he played both sides of the football as a wide receiver, quarterback and defensive back. Addison would earn a four-star recruiting profile from national scouts, committing to the University of Pittsburgh after receiving several high-profile offers.

Accolades:

•2021 First Team All-ACC

•2021 Consensus All American

•2021 Biletnikoff Award Winner

•2021 ACC Champion

•2021 NCAA REC TD Leader

•2022 First Team All-PAC

Past Production/Collegiate Career:

Addison played in only ten games as a true freshman, starting eight. Despite his limited playing time in his inaugural collegiate season, the promising young wideout led the team in receiving production with 60 receptions for 666 yards and four touchdowns. He returned to Pitt as a sophomore in 2021, taking the nation by storm on an offense led by the soon-to-be first-round NFL quarterback Kenny Pickett. Addison led the NCAA in receiving touchdowns (17), catching 100 passes for 1593 yards, earning the Fred Biletnikoff award for the top receiver in the Country. Pitt would go on to win the ACC championship in 2021 with Addison as the primary focal point of the offense.

The star receiver elected to transfer to USC as a junior in 2022 where he would link up with eventual Heisman trophy winner Caleb Williams. Unfortunately, nagging injuries and a new offensive system kept Addison from building on his award-winning season. He played in just 11 games as a Trojan, catching 59 balls for 875 yards with eight touchdowns.

Addison chose to forego his final season of collegiate eligibility, declaring early for the 2023 NFL Draft.

Stats to Know:

  • Has played 1,102 snaps in the slot and 757 snaps out wide, with over 1,200 yards at both positions, per PFF.

  • Commanded a 26.6% target share while at Pitt, averaging 26.6 PPR PPG in his sophomore season at 19 years old.

Scouting Report:

NFL Draft Grade: 6.36 (Eventual Plus Starter)

Next-Gen Draft Grade: 84 (Good)

Scouting Strengths:

  • It’s easy to say that Addison does everything well but the tired cliche is undeniably true for the future superstar.

  • Runs a wide range of routes from both the slot and out wide but has graded best on slants, crossing routes and out-routes.

  • Glue hands. Dropped just two of his 62 catchable targets during his final season at USC (21 drops across 186 catchable targets at Pitt).

  • Explosive, great ball skills, athletic, shifty. Shows excellent deceleration in and out of route breaks.

Scouting Weaknesses

  • Significant regression in all statistical categories from his sophomore to junior seasons.

  • USC’s receiving corps was much better than Pitt, leaving questions as to whether Addison can earn targets consistently in a highly talented NFL offense.

  • Drops were a slight issue for Addison at Pitt but to be expected when receiving such a large volume of targets.

  • Concerns around size and speed.

  • Not slow but lacks elite breakaway speed for someone who weighs only 175 pounds.

  • Needs to add weight and strength to feel more comfortable going up against press coverage at the NFL level.

Future NFL/Fantasy Outlook:

Jordan Addison gets falsely labeled as being just a slot receiver. He has played 1,102 snaps in the slot and 757 snaps out wide, with over 1,200 yards at both positions, per PFF.

For perspective, Addison ranks well above the collegiate career percentages for snaps out wide than his fellow draft mates.

The most common adjective you will see to describe Addison throughout the draft process is “versatile.” The kid can truly do it all from any receiver position in any scheme or formation. He is fearless in catching the ball in traffic, devastating after the catch and possesses elite ball-tracking ability over each shoulder.

Simply put, Addison has been one of the best receivers in college football over the last two seasons. Well-rounded and polished, he is an NFL-ready prospect who will make an immediate impact wherever he lands.

Addison can play both inside the slot, and outside as a true number-one option for a team in need of receiving depth. He has developed an impressive set of route running skills, showing extreme patience and precision to his craft, allowing for a wide array of potentially positive fits come draft time.

Addison is sure to be a viable NFL starter for years with top-12 positional upside well within his range of outcomes for his career.
