Week 13 Rookie Report

Welcome to the Rookie Report series. This will be a recurring series that highlights fantasy relevant rookies, how they performed in the prior weeks, and what that means for the future—all done with fun categories! Let’s dive in!

Rookie of the Week:

Garrett Wilson, WR, Jets

New York Jets

Garrett Wilson had another excellent performance this week, proving that all he needs is a capable QB to get him the ball. Wilson finished with 5 receptions for 95 yards and 2 touchdowns. He averaged 19 yards per catch and once again showed how dominant he can be, even as a rookie. He also beat the defense in different ways, scoring an 8 yards touchdown and a 54 yard touchdown, showing his versatility. Wilson is a stud.

Other Impressive Rookies:

Brian Robinson, RB, Commanders

Brian Robinson had a big game for the Commanders this week totaling 18 carries for 105 yards along with 2 catches for 20 yards and a touchdown. He had twice as many carries and the same number of targets as Antonio Gibson just a week after seemingly falling behind Gibson in the pecking order. This is a fluid situation but it was nice to see Robinson have a breakout game.

Christian Watson, WR, Packers

Another week. another Christian Watson touchdown. This time he totaled 110 receiving yards alongside his TD score. He has become an every down player and has impressed while doing so. He is excellent after the catch and has continued to show off his rare size and speed combination. The Packers would be wise to continue feeding Watson.

Jelani Woods, TE, Colts

Jelani Woods had a breakout game in Week 12 in the most surprising rookie performance of the week. Woods lead the Colts with 8 receptions and 98 receiving yards. Woods entered the game with just 7 receptions on the season. In the current tight end landscape, it would be smart to monitor Woods as a possible streaming candidate.

Disappointing Rookie of the Week:

Dameon Pierce, RB. Texans

Another week, another disappointing game from Dameon Pierce. The early season sensation has come crashing back down to earth over the past two weeks. Pierce finished Week 12 with just five carries for 8 yards and three receptions for 8 yards. He has now totaled just 16 yards on fifteen carries over the last two weeks. With the current state of the Texans’ offense, it would not be surprising to see Pierce’s struggles continue.

Honorable Mentions: Drake London, WR, Falcons, Greg Dulcich, TE, Broncos

Keep An Eye On This Rookie:

Jake Ferguson, TE, Cowboys

Jake Ferguson of the Dallas Cowboys is the backup TE to starter Dalton Schultz. Ferguson’s role has continued to grow throughout the season and put forth a strong effort in Week 12, finishing the week with 57 yards and a touchdown. He is a player to keep your eye on in dynasty formats.

Beast mode Run of the Week:

Kenneth Walker vs Raiders

Ken Walker did his best Marshawn Lynch impression this week by dragging two Raiders defenders into the endzone for a Seahawks touchdown. Walker has had a fantastic rookie season and should continue to be an effective back rest of season.
