Dynasty Market Report: Week 15

Managing a Dynasty roster is about building long-lasting success in the chaotic and unpredictable landscape of fantasy football. The idea should be to give yourself as many assets/bargaining chips as possible so that when you move all in, the deck is stacked in your favor. “We are card counters at the blackjack table, and we’re going to turn the odds at the casino.” Today, we look at some intriguing assets in Dynasty, drawing unbiased values from Sleeper ADP, Dynasty League Football, and KeepTradeCut in an attempt to exploit certain market discrepancies. As always, we will be viewing these players and values through a Superflex lens.

WEEK 15 DYNASTY MARKET REPORT

Notable Market Risers:

Garrett Wilson (WR) - New York Jets

It didn't take much for Dynasty managers to be reminded of the superstar talent that Garrett Wilson possesses. Suffering through three weeks of Tim Boyle under center was enough for managers to discount Wilson's near unmatched upside as a young wideout with sky-high potential and a Hall Of Fame career range of outcomes. After falling outside of the top 10 receivers on the Dynasty market, Wilson has now risen to WR7/20th player overall after a season-best outing in Week 14.

Brandon Aiyuk (WR) - San Francisco 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk has long been a perennially underrated Dynasty asset considering his exemplary efficiencies as one of the NFL's most complete wide receivers despite his youth and position within a crowded offense. The market has seemingly caught up in consensus with what Broto has long been preaching – Brandon Aiyuk is a top-12 wide receiver in Dynasty and a cornerstone player to build your squads around.

Michael Pittman Jr. (WR) - Indianapolis Colts

Michael Pittman has been a consistent conductor of continuous production this season, averaging 17.3 PPG as the WR11 overall on the season. Pittman has surpassed eight or more receptions in 10 of his 13 outings, posting only three finishes outside of the top 24 wide receivers this season with only one outing outside of the top 36. Pittman has accumulated seven WR1 finishes this season, including three consecutive finishes inside of the top 12 across his past three games. He has earned double-digit targets in all but two games this season while leading the Colts in every perceivable receiving metric, both in counting stats and per-touch efficiency. The Dynasty market was slow to get here but Pittman is finally creeping inside of the top-15 positional assets on the market.

Kyren Williams (RB) - Los Angeles Rams

Kyren Williams was a low-level collegiate prospect with one of the worst NFL Combine showings in history upon entering the 2022 NFL Draft. He then sat behind the likes of Darrell Henderson and Cam Akers during his first season with no positive impact or analytics to point toward a successful NFL career. None of it mattered. Williams has become an undeniable fantasy superstar with six top-10 positional finishes in nine starts. The second-year back is currently averaging 20.4 PPR PPG and sits as the RB11 overall despite missing four games with an injury. He has surpassed 100 scrimmage yards in all six of his RB1 outings, the most of any player this season not named Christian McCaffrey. Despite poor draft capital, poor athletic scores, and poor year-one production, Williams has propelled himself to the heights of RB10/50th player overall on the Dynasty market.

Jayden Reed (WR) - Green Bay Packers

Jayden Reed has garnered a ton of recognition as of late, slowly rising the Dynasty market ladder with several promising performances. The Packers rookie wideout has seemingly taken hold of the top spot on the roster, surpassing Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson as the team's undeniable new Alpha. Reed has excelled on every touch, showcasing a dual ability as a big-play rushing threat coupled with reliable hands and excellent deep ball tracking. Reed's potential with a rapidly developing Jordan Love has Dynasty managers chomping at the bit to stack the young duo.

NOTABLE MARKET FALLERS

Jaylen Waddle (WR) Miami Dolphins

Jaylen Waddle's fall into WR2 territory on the Dynasty market has not so surprisingly coincided with his replaceable WR2 production on the football field. This is not an indictment of Waddle's incredible career potential as a superstar wideout, moreover a market recognition of the Dolphins’ inability to support two top-12 receivers. For as long as they are both healthy, Waddle will play second fiddle behind Tyreek Hill.

Jordan Addison (WR) - Minnesota Vikings

The Dynasty market had prematurely heightened Jordan Addison's value during Justin Jefferson's absence after the rookie had flashed incredible upside alongside his superstar teammate during the early portions of the season. Unfortunately, Addison did little to impress in that stretch despite having the proverbial keys to the passing offense. It is worth noting that Joshua Dobbs took over for Kirk Cousins in the same time frame but Addison's low-level outings caused a justifiable re-evaluation of the rookie's placement amongst the elite receiver assets in Dynasty.

Stefon Diggs (WR) - Buffalo Bills

The fragility that veteran players have on the Dynasty market is often baffling, especially at the wide receiver position. We have seen countless wideouts beat the age allegations with incredible seasons in their later years despite some minor inkling of regression. Stefon Diggs is falling victim to the same philosophies stated above as the Bills’ top wideout has posted three finishes below WR50 over his last four outings yet remains as the WR6 overall averaging 18.1 PPR PPG. Diggs has fallen over 20 spots on consensus market rankings with a laughably low evaluation of WR21/52nd player overall.

Austin Ekeler (RB) - Los Angeles Chargers

Austin Ekeler was a primary focus of last week's Dynasty Market Report as managers attempt to navigate their way through the veteran's most recent slump. Ekeler has lost a lot of upside as a pass-catcher while exemplifying minimal ability to create on his own as a rusher. His age and sudden lack of consistent production have left Dynasty managers no choice but to pivot off of the perennially ranked RB1. Ekeler is now being valued outside of the top 24 running backs and top 100 assets overall in Dynasty (RB25/101st Overall). The potential loss of Justin Herbert for the foreseeable future will now cause all value insulation that Ekeler once had to dissipate entirely.

Joshua Dobbs (QB) - Minnesota Vikings

Joshua Dobbs had been a fantasy football fan-favourite acquisition for managers looking at a cheap alternative to high-upside quarterback production. The floor that once upheld a relatively reliable scoring output has since rotted away into a basement of bottom-feeding performances from Dobbs. A four-interception outing in Week 12 already had managers shortening the leash with the journeyman value. Being benched for Nick Mullens in Week 14 was the last straw for Dobbs as a Superflex asset. The Dynasty market has now dropped Dobbs’ value outside of the top 32 quarterbacks, with Desmond Ridder (QB31) and Gardner Minshew (QB32) both ranking ahead of the once sought-after starter.

DYNASTY WAIVER ADDS

Nick Mullens (QB) - Minnesota Vikings

The same managers that were plugging in Dobbs’ unsuspecting point totals each week should take a close look at adding the Vikings’ newest presumed starter.

Easton Stick (QB) - Los Angeles Chargers

The Superflex Dynasty landscape has been shell-shocked by several unfortunate injuries this season. Justin Herbert is the latest member to be added to the long list of bodies claimed by the 2023 campaign. Herbert is in danger of missing the remainder of the season with a fractured finger on his throwing hand, leaving Easton Stick as the Chargers’ only contingency. Every starting quarterback in the NFL should be on a roster in Superflex leagues. Stick is no exception to that disposition.

Chase Brown (RB) - Cincinnati Bengals

Chase Brown is quickly becoming a fixture in the Bengals’ game plans as they navigate through unfamiliar waters without Joe Burrow. Brown appears much more explosive than veteran running mate Joe Mixon and has a second gear that Mixon has not exemplified since his rookie season. Brown should continue to get increased looks as the veteran Mixon wears down during the end of the season.

BUY LOW

Stefon Diggs (WR) - Buffalo Bills

When the Dynasty market is quick to overreact to a small sample size of regression, savvy managers simply must take advantage. Stefon Diggs should not be valued anywhere outside of the top 20 wide receivers despite his age and current downward trend of middling production. He is a superstar wideout with several years of high-end production left in his career range of outcomes. Whether rebuilding or contending, an elite asset of Diggs caliber should be sought after whenever the cost is unjustifiably reduced.

Tank Dell (WR) - Houston Texans

Tank Dell’s 2.24 Yards per Route Run represents the sixth-highest total by any rookie wide receiver who also maintained at least a 20.0% target share in a minimum of eight games played. The only other players in NFL history to hit those heights are Ja'Marr Chase, Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, Chris Olave, and Marques Colston. If you have enough depth to supplement holding onto Dell through his injury recovery then you should take advantage of his current decline in market value.

SELL HIGH

James Cook (RB) - Buffalo Bills

James Cook is by no means the best option for the Bills’ success. He is simply the best option right now. The undersized change-of-pace back has put up several impressive performances in the back of his big-play propensity but remains highly underutilized by the franchise, suggesting minimal job security in the future. Managers desperate for running back production are more than willing to seemingly mortgage their future assets in the form of high-upside firsts, plus additional value, in order to acquire Cook's services for a few weeks. The return on his current value is far too good to pass up when the offer comes through.
