Waiver Wire Targets: Week 6

Heading into Week 6, we have another enticing list of players available on the waiver wire. So, let’s jump right into it!

I would like to add a disclaimer here that FAAB recommendations vary widely from league to league, roster construction, available players, etc. While I try to give a roundabout number to bid on these players, you know your leagues better than I do, so you should ultimately bid the amount that you feel is right. There is also a big difference between leagues with minimum $0 bids and minimum $1 bids that could adjust the bid amount, as well. If you want more waiver wire help, you should join patreon.com/brotofantasy for the waiver wire podcast that dives deeper into available players not mentioned in this article, as well as TE and QB streamers of the week. You can also join the discord and ask me more direct waiver questions with info about your league so that I can give you the most informed advice that I can. Hope to see you there!

*Players listed in order of FAAB Recommendation

**Roster percentage based on Yahoo

KJ Osborn (MIN WR)

Roster Percentage: 10%

Faab Recommendation: 15%

With Justin Jefferson likely heading to IR, KJ Osborn becomes the next man up for Minnesota. While no receiver can fill the shoes of Justin Jefferson, Osborn has shown several times throughout his career that he can step up when called upon, filling in admirably for Adam Theilen on many occasions. Osborn is a volatile player but he certainly gets bumped up to the WR3/Flex range of players for as long as Jefferson remains out.

Emari Demercado (ARI RB)

Roster Percentage: 3%

Faab Recommendation: 10-15%

This is likely the first time many fantasy players are hearing the name Emari Demercado. Demercado is a 5’9” 215 lbs undrafted free agent out of TCU who has risen to #2 on the Cardinals RB depth chart with Keontay Ingram out with injury. After James Conner went down with a knee injury in the second quarter, Demercado stepped in admirably, totaling 45 rushing yards on 10 carries while also scoring his first career TD. He also added a 12-yard catch on three targets. While the extent of Conner’s injury is unknown, he was unable to return to the Cardinals Week 5 matchup and the Cardinals coaching staff seems to think he will be forced to miss some time. Demercado immediately becomes a viable flex play with upside.

Rashee Rice (KC WR)

Roster Percentage: 39%

Faab Recommendation: 10%

Rashee Rice continues to be the best Chiefs WR on a team desperate for play makers. We can expect Rice’s role in the offense to keep growing as the season progresses, which makes him a very interesting stash and hold candidate.

Jeff Wilson (MIA RB)

Roster Percentage: 26%

Faab Recommendation: 5-10%

With De’Von Achane unfortunately heading to the IR with a knee injury, Jeff Wilson once again finds himself in a fantasy relevant situation in the Miami backfield. Wilson is set to be activated from the IR this week and could start playing again as asoon as this weekend. While Wilson is no Achane, he will almost certainly hold flex appeal in this offense.

Logan Thomas (WSH TE)

Roster Percentage: 16%

Faab Recommendation: 5-10%

Another repeat player. Thomas had a breakout game in Week 5, totaling 9 receptions, 77 yards and one TD on 11 targets. Thomas has now been a viable TE option every time he has been healthy this season. He is certainly in the low end TE1 bucket and should be rostered in way more than 16% of leagues.

D’Onta Foreman (CHI RB)

Roster Percentage: 7%

Faab Recommendation: 5-10%

D’Onta Foreman has been a healthy scratch all season for the Bears despite signing a one year contract this offseason. That all changes heading into Week 6 after the Bears RB room became decimated with injuries, all in the same game. Khalil Herbert is dealing with a high ankle sprain, so he is likely to miss multiple weeks. Roschon Johnson is in concussion protocol and Travis Homer is dealing with a hamstring injury. The Bears ended their Week 5 game against Washington with Khari Blasingame, a fullback, getting all of the rushing work. The Bears signed Darrynton Evans to add to their RB room already, so it could likely be assumed that Foreman will spend at least one week as the lead back in this backfield.

Dalton Schultz (HOU TE)

Roster Percentage: 36%

Faab Recommendation: 5%

Dalton Schultz has had a slow start to his debut season in Houston but he broke out in a big way in Week 5, totaling seven catches, 65 receiving yards and a touchdown on 10 targets. A ten-target game is not something that can be ignored, especially with the way CJ Stroud is playing to open his career. Schultz finds himself in top 12 consideration heading into Week 6, though you may be able to wait a couple weeks to add him with New Orleans and a bye week approaching.

Tyler Boyd (CIN WR)

Roster Percentage: 48%

Faab Recommendation: 5%

I discussed Boyd in last week’s article so I won’t get into it too much, but with Higgins out, Boyd saw seven targets and caught six balls for 39 yards. Not a huge game by any stretch but Burrow balled out for the first time this season and the Bengals get a beatable Seattle secondary in Week 6. Boyd is in flex consideration.

Curtis Samuel (WSH WR)

Roster Percentage: 18%

Faab Recommendation: 5%

Like Tyler Boyd, Curtis Samuel is making a repeat performance here as he is still just 18% rostered. Samuel has a clear role in the Washington offense and has now found the end zone and ended as a top 30 WR in back-to-back games. He is bye week fill-in worthy at the very least.
