Clay's Corner: Week 15 DFS Plays

I had the right ancillary pieces in Week 14 but not the right QB-WR stacks. If I would’ve listened to my GPP recommendations, I would’ve cashed a lot more lineups. Let’s take a quick look at my hits for Week 14.

QB: Gardner Minshew- 15, Joe Flacco- 25.34, Lamar Jackson- 35.64, Justin Fields- 24.72

RB: Breece Hall- 26.6, Joe Mixon- 21.5, James Cook- 25.1

WR: Michael Pittman- 19.5, Deebo Samuel- 37, Cooper Kupp- 28.5

TE: Isaiah Likely- 19.3

D/ST: Colts- 7

My best GPP lineup didn’t cash sadly. Here’s the lineup:

QB: Patrick Mahomes- 14.64

RB: James Cook- 25.10

RB: Jerick McKinnon- 12.7

WR: DJ Moore- 26.8

WR: Drake London- 32.2

WR: Khalil Shakir- 2.2

TE: Travis Kelce- 14.3

FLEX: Rashee Rice- 19.2

D/ST: Jets D/ST- 12

For a total of 159.14 points! The Chiefs were low-rostered but just didn’t get the job done which is a shame as I nailed the James Cook/DJ Moore/Drake London picks. On to Week 15!

Week 15 DraftKings slate

Games to target:

1. SF @ ARI - 47.5 O/U

Implied totals: SF 30.5; ARI 17

2. DAL @ BUF - 50.5 O/U

Implied totals: DAL 24; BUF 26.5

3. WAS@ LAR - 49.5 O/U

Implied totals: WAS 21.5; LAR 28

4. TB @ GB – 41.5 O/U

Implied totals: TB- 19; GB- 22.5

Top Cash Plays:

Quarterbacks

Sam Howell ($6,300)

Howell has 6 straight games of 20+ fantasy points. He’s also thrown for 300+ yards in 4 of those 6 games. Howell should easily hit 3x value in this spot, especially since the Rams rank as the 7th best matchup for opposing QBs.

Dak Prescott ($8,000)

Although Prescott’s DraftKings price has increased, he’s still worth playing at 8k. Prescott wasn’t needed much against Philly in Week 14, however, he produced 28 and 35 fantasy points the previous two weeks. Here are some stats showing how good Dak has been:

  • 2nd in completion percentage- 70.1%

  • 2nd in True Throw Value (TTV)

  • 1st in passing TDs

  • 5th in passing yards

  • 3rd in PPR PPG- 21.2

It’s no secret the Cowboys can’t run the ball, so Dak will be needed for the Cowboys to defeat the Bills in Week 15.

Other options: Brock Purdy ($6,800), Matthew Stafford ($6,000), Zach Wilson ($4,900)

Running Back

Christian McCaffrey ($9,300)

McCaffrey had a down week against the Seahawks last week but that doesn’t change the fact that he is the key cog in the 49ers offense. CMC has scored 20+ fantasy points in all but three games this season.

Breece Hall ($6,400)

Hall hasn’t had the explosive runs lately, instead he’s working effectively through the air. Hall has accumulated 8+ targets in each of his last three games. Overall, Hall ranks 3rd in targets, 4th in receptions, 4th in receiving yards and 4th in target share among RBs. Breece Hall is great cash play this week.

Other options: James Cook ($6,300) - Ranks 8th in receiving yards and receiving TDs and 4th in aDOT

Kyren Williams ($7,500) - The Commanders rank as the 5th best matchup for opposing RBs

Wide Receiver

CeeDee Lamb ($9,200)

Lamb has climbed up to 15th in weighted opportunity rating (WOPR) and is in another smash spot in Week 15. Lamb is 5th in targets, 8th in target share- 28.1% and 1st in redzone opportunities. I’m locking CD in all my cash and GPP lineups.

Cooper Kupp ($7,800), Puka Nacua ($7,300)

The Rams will have their choice of how they want to dismantle the Commanders defense this week. The Commanders rank as the #1 matchup for opposing WRs, which is music to Puka Nacua & Cooper Kupp’s ears. Kupp looked healthy in a wet and tough matchup against the Ravens in Week 14. Puka only had 2 fewer targets than Kupp last week. If you have the salary, I’d lean Kupp, if you need some savings then Nacua makes sense.

Other options: Noah Brown ($5,000), Garrett Wilson ($5,800), DeAndre Hopkins ($6,200)

Tight End

Jake Ferguson ($4,800)

Ferguson has still been the lead TE even with rookie TE Luke Schoonmaker returning from injury. Ferguson has back-to-back games of 8 targets and gets to face the 9th best matchup for opposing TEs in the Bills. With the Cowboys lack of success in the run game, I expect Ferguson and the passing game to be busy early and often in Week 15.

Tyler Conklin ($3,100)

In QB Zack Wilson’s first game back as a starter, Conklin earned 6 targets. Conklin ranks 11th in air yards share at 14.7% and 17th in Weighted Opportunity Rating (WOPR) among all TEs. Conklin is a solid cash play.

New York Jets ($2,500)

Everyone witnessed the Dolphins choke job on Monday Night Football in Week 14 and that was against a Titans defense that ranked 22nd in pressure rate at 20.4%. Insert the Jets defense, ranking 2nd in pressure rate along with four Dolphins starting offensive linemen potentially out, and you have a recipe for fantasy points by the bunch.

Favorite stacks:

1. Brock Purdy + CMC + Deebo Samuel/Brandon Aiyuk. A bring-back isn’t necessary, but I like Hollywood Brown in a bounce-back spot. You could also single stack Brock Purdy with CMC or Deebo.

2. Dak Prescott + Ceedee Lamb with a Dalton Kincaid bring back. Another option is to double stack Dak with Lamb and Jake Ferguson and no Bills bring-back.

3. Matthew Stafford + Cooper Kupp/Puka Nacua + Kyren Williams with no bring-back. If you wanted to bring back someone from the Commanders, I’d go cheap with WR Curtis Samuel. QB Sam Howell spreads the ball around, which makes it difficult to nail down who to bring back.

GPP Plays:

Quarterbacks

Josh Allen ($8,200)

Allen is a contrarian play this week. The Dallas defense has been tough, just ask QB Jalen Hurts. However, the Bills are in a must-win game and in the scenario they win, Allen has a huge game. Allen has 4 games of 30+ points and this could be a spot he pops off.

I also like my cash QB recommendations for GPPs.

Running Back

Bijan Robinson ($6,800)

The Panthers slot in as the 7th best matchup for opposing RBs. Robinson ranks 3rd in weighted opportunity rating (WOPR) among all RBs. In his last three games, Robinson has 5+ targets in all of them.

Ezekiel Elliott ($5,800)

The Bills showed everyone the blueprint on how to beat the Chiefs and the Patriots will copy that blueprint. Zeke should continue to get fed with RB Rhamondre Stevenson out at least one more week. Elliott has 21 & 29 offensive touches the past two weeks and I expect another heavy workload for Zeke in Week 15.

I like my cash options at RB as well for GPPs this week.

Wide Receivers

Stefon Diggs ($8,400)

Although the Dallas defense has been good, they can be overaggressive, and Diggs can exploit that. I expect Diggs to have low-rostership and provide a nice pivot off WR Ceedee Lamb.

Mike Evans ($7,500)

This play depends on the status of Packers 2-time Pro Bowler CB Jaire Alexander. Alexander was a limited participant in practice on Wednesday. Evans ranks 2nd among all WRs in receiving TDs with 10 TDs and is 10th in receiving yards.

I also like my cash options for GPPs this week.

Tight Ends

TE Taysom Hill ($5,500)

Hill is always a play with how bad the Saints offense has been. Hill did miss Week 14 so keep an eye on his practice status for Week 15.

Other options: Brevin Jordan ($3,100), David Njoku ($4,700)

D/ST

Chicago Bears D/ST - ($3,300)

The Bears defense has been tough lately. Outside of a game at Detroit, the Bears defense has been allowing an average of 12 points per game.

I’m sticking with my cash D/ST for GPPs.

Lone Ranger (sub $5,000 player that can score over 10 fantasy points)

Elijah Moore was unable to get on the same page as QB Joe Flacco, dropping me to 12-13.

WR Noah Brown ($5,000), WR Jayden Reed ($4,900), WR Curtis Samuel (4,600)

Noah Brown gets to face the 3rd best matchup for opposing WRs and gets more volume with Nico Collins questionable and Nathaniel Dell out for the season.

Jayden Reed is getting used in multiple facets in the Packers offense. He has three games with two or more rush attempts and is a staple of the Packers offense. Reed gets the 11th best matchup for opposing WRs in the Bucs in Week 15.

Curtis Samuel has been a volume hog lately. He has had 17 targets over his last two games and should be busy in a matchup with the high-powered Rams offense.

Have a great Week 15 of DFS! Win big and be kind to each other!
