Waiver Wire Targets: Week 9

Happy Halloween good people! Hope you eat an extra piece of chocolate today and watch some scary movies! The Week 9 Waiver Wire is scary thin compared to previous weeks, but there are certainly still some treats mixed in. Let’s jump right into it!

I would like to add a disclaimer here that FAAB recommendations vary widely from league to league, roster construction, available players, etc. While I try to give a roundabout number to bid on these players, you know your leagues better than I do, so you should ultimately bid the amount that you feel is right. There is also a big difference between leagues with minimum $0 bids and minimum $1 bids that could adjust the bid amount, as well.

If you want more waiver wire help, you should join patreon.com/brotofantasy for the waiver wire podcast that dives deeper into available players not mentioned in this article, as well as QB and DEF streamers of the week. You can also join the discord and ask me more direct waiver questions with info about your league so that I can give you the most informed advice that I can. Hope to see you there!

**Roster percentage based on Yahoo

Taysom Hill (NO TE)

Roster Percentage: 35%

FAAB Recommendation: 15%

Taysom Hill makes it on the list for a second straight week after a massive Week 9 performance. With the return of Juwan Johnson, Hill was not nearly as involved in the passing game as he was in Weeks 7 and 8, but that did not matter, as he did it all in Week 9. Hill threw for 44 passing yards, caught one pass for 14 yards and ran nine times for 63 yards and two TDs, en route to a 20+ point fantasy performance. Hill is a volatile risky asset, but he has now strung together three straight fantasy relevant performances, including two top-5 TE finishes. You can certainly do worse at the TE position.

Demario Douglas (NE WR)

Roster Percentage: 3%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

With Kendrick Bourne now out for the season after tearing his ACL, Demario Douglas (who was here last week) should be forced into a bigger role in the offense. While Douglas went just 5/25 through the air in Week 8, he did lead all Patriots WRs in snap percentage (77%), target share (24.1%) and targets (7). Devante Parker is also in concussion protocol, which means Douglas could be the WR1 in Week 9 in a terrific matchup against the Washington Commanders. He holds a ton of risk but he could be a very interesting dart throw in Week 9.

Jahan Dotson (WSH WR)

Roster Percentage: 51%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

Jahan Dotson finally had the breakout game that his fantasy managers have been waiting for, unfortunately for them, it came in Week 8. Dotson is a talented young receiver and he may see more opportunities if Curtis Samuel is forced to miss time. He is going to be a volatile asset, but you could do worse as a bye week filler.

Brandin Cooks (DAL WR)

Roster Percentage: 41%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

Brandin Cooks has been very disappointing as a member of the Cowboys but he now has back-to-back games with a TD, exemplifying the upside that can be found in the Dallas offense. Cooks has scored in two straight but garnered just 8 total targets in those two games. He is still a low floor volatile asset, but like Dotson, you could do worse if hit with bye weeks.

Leonard Fournette (BUF RB)

Roster Percentage: 4%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

The Buffalo Bills are clearly not enamored with James Cook like some in the fantasy community are, and with Damien Harris on IR and the oldest RB in the league Latavius Murray as their thumper, it is not surprising to see them sign Leonard Fournette. Expect Cook to remain the main pass catching back while splitting the early down work and sitting on the bench for goal line opportunities. Fournette may be able to quickly jump Latavius Murray in the pecking order if he proves to be in good shape. Fournette could have bye week fill-in TD dependent appeal, with upside if injuries occur ahead of him.

Khalil Shakir (BUF WR)

Roster Percentage: 1%

FAAB Recommendation: 0-2%

Khalil Shakir has shown some impressive flashes in his first couple of seasons but has been stuck behind Diggs and Gabe Davis in the WR room, with impact plays few and far between. That changed this past week when Shakir was involved early and often, setting a season high in snap share (65%), target share (15%) and targets (6). His six receptions and 92 yards were also season highs. This was not completely out of the blue as Shakir was initially more involved in Week 7, before his big game in Week 8. It is going to be very interesting to see if Shakir can make some noise in a big game against Cincinnati this week. He is worth an add in deeper leagues.

Jamison Crowder (WSH WR)

Roster Percentage: 0%

FAAB Recommendation: 0-2%

What year is it? Jamison Crowder took over the fruitful slot role once Curtis Samuel was forced to leave with an injury and he put up a vintage performance, totaling 7 receptions, 95 yards and a TD. If Samuel is forced to miss time, Crowder could find himself in flex viable territory, mainly in PPR leagues.

Hunter Renfrow (LV WR)

Roster Percentage: 2%

FAAB Recommendation: 0-2%

Hunter Renfrow is worth a free gamble if traded before the deadline. If not, it looks like he will have no real impact this season.
