Top Cash Plays:

Quarterback

Lamar Jackson ($8,100 - Skittles)

We finally saw the Ravens offense open things up a bit in Week 7. Jackson threw for a season-high 357 yards and 3 TDs with a 77.8% completion percentage. Jackson has been passing well, ranking 3rd in completion percentage at 71% and 3rd in yards/att at 8.1. Now that Jackson is matching his throwing with his strong rushing stats - 2nd in rushing attempts, 2nd in rushing TDs, and 1st in rushing yards - he will be tough to beat in cash. The fact that he is cheaper than QBs Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts is a gift.

Derek Carr ($5,500 - Hershey Kisses)

I always try to provide a middle to cheaper option for cash and Derek Carr fits the bill this week. Say what you want about his tape, Carr is producing fantasy points. He has back-to-back games of 300+ passing yards and 50+ passing attempts which has resulted in him scoring 20+ fantasy points each of his last two games. Furthermore, the Saints draw the Colts in Week 8, who sit as the 6th best matchup for opposing QBs per Broto’s True Matchup Rank (which you can access for free among many other top-notch tools to help you win, download the Broto fantasy app today!)

Running Back

Travis Etienne ($7,400 - Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups)

Etienne has been unstoppable lately. With games of 22.7, 23.3, and 39.4 fantasy points, Etienne is putting up RB1 numbers despite his 21st rank in weighted opportunity rating (WOPR). Even though Etienne has scored 2 TDs in each of his last three games, his workload is large enough where he can have a big game without multiple TDs. Etienne ranks 1st in rushing attempts, 4th in rushing yards and 3rd in rushing TDs. Coincidentally, Etienne is also doing work in the passing game and here are his ranks:

  • 8th in targets- 29

  • 7th in receptions- 24

  • 3rd in receiving yards- 196

  • 10th in target share- 11.9%

Etienne is an easy play in cash for Week 8.

Breece Hall ($5,900 - M&Ms)

It’s always a sad week when we don’t get to see Breece Hall break off a big play, but thankfully Hall and the Jets are back from their bye week. Hall ranks 1st in big plays among all RBs with six and has produced back-to-back games of 20.3 and 31.4 fantasy points. Hall gets a plus matchup with the in-state rival Giants. The Giants rank as the 8th best matchup for opposing RBs on the ground. Expect some big plays from Breece in Week 8.

Alvin Kamara ($7,300 - Sour Patch Kids)

Kamara is still the #1 back in WOPR. He also benefits from a nice matchup against the Colts. The Colts are the 9th best matchup for opposing receiving backs. Kamara is an excellent cash play for Week 8.

Wide Receiver

Cooper Kupp ($9,000 - Milky Way)

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong for Kupp in Week 7. He tied his drop total from last season (2) and could not get anything going. Kupp still leads all WRs in WOPR and target share at 35.9%. Even though the Cowboys are a bad matchup, HC Sean McVay will find ways to get the ball to Kupp and we know better than to bet against him.

Adam Thielen ($6,600 - Kit kat bar)

Thielen has three 30+ point games this season and there is no reason to think he will stop now. Thielen is 20th in WOPR and has 13+ targets in 3/6 games this season. QB Bryce Young will continue to hit the easy layup throws to Thielen.

Josh Downs ($4,800 - Bottle Cap Soda Candy)

I had Downs as one of my Lone Ranger plays last week and he smashed. Downs has 16 targets over his past three games. Although the Saints rank 21st in True Matchup Rank for opposing WRs, the Saints do allow the 3rd most points to the slot at 15.6 per game. He should be able to keep the good times rolling with Gardner Minshew.

Tight End

Travis Kelce ($8,400 - Snickers)

Kelce is back to his dominant ways. He has had 9+ targets in every game he has played in this season. Kelce pieced up the Broncos defense in their first meeting to the tune of 9 receptions for 124 yards. He has scored 38.9, 24.4, and 22.7 points in his last three games and he should continue that pattern in Week 8.

Evan Engram ($4,500 - Payday)

Engram’s consistency has been a pleasant surprise this season. He has had 7+ targets and 40+ receiving in every game except one. The Steelers are susceptible to the pass and Engram should continue his consistent ways.

D/ST

Kansas City Chiefs ($3,900 - Starburst)

The Chiefs sport the 2nd highest pressure rate at 28.7%, which should work well with the Denver Broncos allowing the 8th highest pressure rate at 25.6%. In their Week 6 meeting, the Chiefs forced Russell Wilson into 2 INTs and 4 sacks. If you can afford them, fire up the Chiefs defense in cash.

Favorite stacks:

1. Lamar Jackson + Gus Edwards + Mark Andrews/Zay Flowers. No Cardinals bring back needed, QB Josh Dobbs has struggled mightily, neutralizing any fantasy value Marquise Brown or any other Cardinals player has.

2. Patrick Mahomes + Travis Kelce + Isiah Pacheco with Javonte Williams bring back. I expect this game to be popular, however there are plenty of ways to be unique.

3. Dak Prescott + CeeDee Lamb + Tony Pollard with a Cooper Kupp/Puka Nacua bring back.

GPP Plays:

Quarterback

Tua Tagovailoa ($6,700 - Warheads)

I like Tua as a tournament option this week as I suspect he’ll be low-rostered after struggling in his first matchup against the Patriots. Everyone will focus on box score from the previous meeting between these two teams but I expect McDaniels to make the adjustments needed to get the offense going.

Desmond Ridder ($4,900 - Candy corn)

The way to beat the Titans is through the air. The Titans rank as the 4th best matchup for opposing QBs. Are you feeling lucky?

Running Back

Tony Pollard ($7,500 - Almond Joy)

Despite his lack of production, Pollard is still 6th in WOPR among RBs. Pollard should be low-rostered and is playing in a home dome game with an over/under of 45.5. The Cowboys’ will need to lean on Pollard to fend off the Rams. Much like an Almond Joy, not everyone is going to like this play.

Rhamondre Stevenson ($5,400 - Smarties)

While Stevenson hasn’t been the most efficient runner, he has been picking up steam in the passing game recently. Stevenson has 6 targets in back-to-back games. Miami has been vulnerable to the run all season, ranking as the 11th best matchup for receiving backs and #1 matchup for rushing backs. This is a great matchup for Stevenson, and like Smarties, he won’t leave you disappointed.

Wide Receiver

Ja’Marr Chase ($8,100 - Twix)

Chase is 4th among all WRs in target share and 7th in WOPR so far this season. Most people are going to avoid the 49ers defense, however, they can be beaten on the outside where Chase resides. We just saw Jordan Addison torch the 49ers’ secondary for 123 yards and 2 TDs on Monday Night Football in Week 7. Expect Chase to come roaring out of the Bengals BYE in Week 8.

Garrett Wilson ($6,300 - Hershey bar)

Would you believe that Wilson is 5th among all WRs in WOPR and air yards share and 2nd in red zone opportunities? Wilson has had 50+ yards in four of six games this season and two games with double-digit targets. This is a great spot to roster a stud WR like Wilson.

Drake London ($5,100 - Hot Tamales)

The Titans are the 5th best matchup for opposing WRs. With London’s 22.6% target share and ranking 4th in red zone opportunities, he will be an essential part of the game plan if the Falcons are to defeat the Titans. Much like Hot Tamales, this pick could burn you, but it could also pay big dividends.

Tight Ends

I am comfortable using my cash TEs recommendations for GPPs, however, I have a few more options for this week.

TE Darren Waller ($5,200 - Swedish Fish)

With QB Tyrod Taylor under center, we finally saw Waller and his #2 WOPR unleashed. Waller exploded for 22.8 fantasy points and has the potential for another blow-up spot against the Jets in Week 8. The Jets come-in as the 4th best matchup for opposing TEs. Much like Swedish Fish, Waller gives you plenty of bang for your buck.

TE Mark Andrews ($6,400 - Peanut M&Ms)

Andrews has 4+ receptions in every game this season and has accumulated 60+ receiving yards in four of seven games this year. The Ravens stud TE ranks 2nd in target share and 4th in WOPR. The Cardinals guard TEs well, ranking as the 27th best matchup for opposing TEs, but Andrews is the exception.

D/ST

Cincinnati Bengals ($2,200 - Haribo Gummy Bears)

The Bengals will get to face Sam Darnold making his 49ers debut this week. The Bengals are 10th in defensive pressure rate which should cause problems for Darnold.

Lone Ranger (sub $5,000 player that can score over 10 fantasy points)

Rashee Rice and Josh Downs smashed the 10-point threshold but Curtis Samuel did not, so I went 2-1 last week which leaves me at 7-8 on the season. Time to get over .500!

WR Kendrick Bourne ($4,700 - Sweet tarts), WR Josh Downs ($4,800 - Reese’s Pieces)

Bourne has been one of the few bright spots for the Patriots offense this season. If WR Juju Smith-Schuster is out, Bourne can easily crack 10 fantasy points. He’s had 18 targets over his last two outings and will be in a fast-paced showdown with the Dolphins. Bourne should be utilized heavily.

Josh Downs has been impressive for the Colts and fantasy GMs. As I mentioned earlier, he gets a great spot against a Saints team giving up the 3rd most points to the slot position.
