Waiver Wire Targets: Week 7

Heading into Week 7, we have another enticing list of players available on the waiver wire. So, let’s jump right into it!

I would like to add a disclaimer here that FAAB recommendations vary widely from league to league, roster construction, available players, etc. While I try to give a roundabout number to bid on these players, you know your leagues better than I do, so you should ultimately bid the amount that you feel is right. There is also a big difference between leagues with minimum $0 bids and minimum $1 bids that could adjust the bid amount, as well. If you want more waiver wire help, you should join patreon.com/brotofantasy for the waiver wire podcast that dives deeper into available players not mentioned in this article, as well as TE and QB streamers of the week. You can also join the discord and ask me more direct waiver questions with info about your league so that I can give you the most informed advice that I can. Hope to see you there!

*Players listed in order of FAAB Recommendation

**Roster percentage based on Yahoo

Rashee Rice (KC WR)

Roster Percentage:45%

FAAB Recommendation: 10-20%

Another week, another mention of Rashee Rice. Rice is far and away the highest upside Chiefs WR at the moment. If his role continues to grow, Rice could easily develop into a weekly starting option. It is criminal that he is still just 45% rostered, even if he is not quite yet startable on a weekly basis.

Curtis Samuel (WSH WR)

Roster Percentage:34%

FAAB Recommendation: 15%

I feel like a broken record with Curtis Samuel but as long as he continues to be disrespected he will continue to make this list. Samuel put up a third straight week of double-digit fantasy points after finding the endzone against Atlanta and the Commanders have a tremendous stretch of matchups upcoming. If Samuel is still available in your league, go get him.

Jeff Wilson (MIA RB)

Roster Percentage:55%

FAAB Recommendation: 10-15%

Jeff Wilson is likely to return in Week 7, meaning he should be RB2/flex viable from the jump. Salvon Ahmed just had a decent game as the backup to Mostert but I fully expect Wilson to retain that role as soon as he returns, which should be this coming week.

Zach Evans (LAR RB)

Roster Percentage: 2%

FAAB Recommendation: 10-15%

Kyren Williams is dealing with a sprained ankle and it has already been announced that he is likely to miss the Rams’ Week 7 matchup against the Steelers. Backup RB Ronnie Rivers is dealing with a knee injury of his own and is set to miss multiple weeks, with the IR being an option. This brings us to sixth round pick, Zach Evans. Evans has scarcely been on the field this season but with only practice squad veteran Royce Freeman vying for touches, Evans looks to be in line for significant volume in a solid matchup against the Steelers. Kyren Williams has been an RB1 this season in the Rams resurgent season, so Zach Evans looks like a great plug and play option for teams hurting through injuries or bye weeks.

Dalton Schultz (HOU TE)

Roster Percentage: 51%

FAAB Recommendation: 10-15%

Dalton Schultz was listed here last week after a big Week 5 performance. Schultz followed that up with four catches, 61 yards and a TD on 7 targets against the Saints, marking his third straight double-digit performance.

Schultz is arguably a must start option in Week 8 once the Texans come out of their bye. You may even be able to add Schultz for cheaper than expected with the upcoming bye week.

Jordan Mason (SF RB)

Roster Percentage: 6%

FAAB Recommendation: 10%

Despite Elijah Mitchell being active in Week 6 after missing two games with a knee injury, Jordan Mason remained the next man up behind Christian McCaffrey once he went down with an injury. While Mitchell ran just twice for -3 yards, Mason ran five times for 27 yards and one TD. Mitchell has always played ahead of Mason in the past when both were healthy, so this was a pretty surprising development, especially in a game where the Niners were struggling for offense and ultimately lost to the Cleveland Browns. The Niners could have been easing Mitchell back in but there is also a legitimate shot that Mason will be the lead back if CMC is forced to miss time. Mason is definitely worth an add, especially for teams in need of a plug and play option this week. I would be more aggressive with this bid if we knew for sure that CMC would be out this week.

Craig Reynolds (DET RB)

Roster Percentage: 2%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

Craig Reynolds finds himself in possible streaming territory heading into a Week 7 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens. With David Montgomery leaving the Lions Week 6 win with a rib injury and Jahmyr Gibbs missing his second straight week with a hamstring injury, the Lions could have a Reynolds led backfield in Week 7. While he has never been an efficient back, the Lions are a gold mine for RB rushing TDs, which puts Reynolds in RB2/Flex consideration. If Gibbs returns, Reynolds becomes a TD dependent desperation flex play.

Wan’Dale Robinson (NYG WR)

Roster Percentage:18%

FAAB Recommendation: 5-10%

Another player who seemingly makes this list every week. Robinson is a PPR floor play but certainly has enough juice to be a bye week fill in.

Kareem Hunt (CLE RB)

Roster Percentage:36%

FAAB Recommendation: 5%

While Jerome Ford continued to lead the backfield, Kareem Hunt got his fair share of touches in the Browns’ upset win over the 49ers. Hunt received 12 carries and 3 targets, finding the end zone while totaling 71 yards. Hunt would have a monster role if something were to happen to Ford but he seems to have a decent role in the offense either way. He has some bye week fill in potential.

Elijah Mitchell (SF RB)

Roster Percentage: 28%

FAAB Recommendation: 5%

See Jordan Mason above. Mitchell could end up being the big brain move, saving FAAB while acquiring the actual starting backup. Certainly no guarantee Mason remains the starter without CMC, even if that is how it played out last week.

Keaontay Ingram (ARI RB)

Roster Percentage:20%

FAAB Recommendation: 5%

A lot of FAAB gets wasted each season so don’t feel bad if you fell for the Emari Demercado trap. Waivers running Tuesday always makes it tougher as well, because it seemed as though Keaontay Ingram would miss last week. Ingram did not miss last week, in fact, he was the clear lead back for the Cardinals in terms of total touches. Ingram received 10 carries and 2 targets, compared to 8 carries and 1 target for Damien Williams, and just 2 carries for 1 target for Demercado. Interestingly enough, Demercado led the backfield in snaps with 33, compared to 28 for Ingram and 13 for Williams. This backfield looks like a complete mess sans James Conner but Ingram has the most flex appeal of the bunch.

Michael Mayer (LV TE)

Roster Percentage:5%

FAAB Recommendation: 0-5%

Michael Mayer followed up a career best game in Week 5 with a career best game in Week 6. While there is still a long way to go before Mayer can be trusted, it is promising to see a rookie tight end getting more involved in the offense each week. Mayer is more of a deep league stash and hold for TE needy teams.
