Dynasty Market Report: Week 14

Managing a Dynasty roster is about building long-lasting success in the chaotic and unpredictable landscape of fantasy football. The idea should be to give yourself as many assets/bargaining chips as possible so that when you move all in, the deck is stacked in your favor. “We are card counters at the blackjack table, and we’re going to turn the odds at the casino.” Today, we look at some intriguing assets in Dynasty, drawing unbiased values from Sleeper ADP, Dynasty League Football, and KeepTradeCut in an attempt to exploit certain market discrepancies. As always, we will be viewing these players and values through a Superflex lens.

WEEK 14 DYNASTY MARKET REPORT

Notable Market Risers

Brock Purdy (QB) - San Francisco 49ers

  • Dynasty managers have watched Brock Purdy's market value shift like a rapidly changing tide throughout the 2023 season. The 49ers quarterback is currently the odds-on front-runner to win the NFL's MVP award despite relying heavily on four all-pro playmakers to uphold the majority of his production. Nevertheless, the Dynasty consensus tankers have felt it pertinent to lift Purdy back into top-12 territory after spending several weeks in the high-end QB2 range.

Sam LaPorta (TE) - Detroit Lions

  • Sam LaPorta's historic rookie tight end season culminated in a career-best outing in Week 13. The young star has long been considered a cornerstone Dynasty asset with rising value as high as the TE1 overall. LaPorta cemented that evaluation by catching all nine of his team-leading targets for a career-best 140 yards and one touchdown. LaPorta became just the second rookie tight end in NFL history to have 140-plus receiving yards and a receiving touchdown in the same game. He is currently posting the highest target share ever recorded by a rookie tight end while averaging the most PPG by any first-year player at his position in NFL history.

Jordan Love (QB) Green Bay Packers

  • Week 13 marked Love's fourth game of the season with at least three passing touchdowns and no turnovers. Brock Purdy is the only other player in the NFL this season to record as many such games as Love. Love is also just the fifth quarterback in the Super Bowl era to have four games with three or more touchdowns and no turnovers in his first 13 starts. The Packers seem to have found their franchise quarterback of the future and the Dynasty market is attaching extreme insulation to the young signal callers market value with the assumption that these numbers are merely the floor of a player with immense potential.

Nico Collins (WR) - Houston Texans

  • Nico Collins was targeted on a career-high 42.9% of routes against the Broncos as the big-bodied receiver set career-highs in yardage and air yards. Collins greatly benefited from an unfortunate injury to fellow star wideout Tank Dell, finishing with a personal-best 191 yards on nine receptions. Collins has received a substantial increase in market value due to his ever-increasing career range of outcomes, youth, size, and undeniable ability to win managers their league as the Texans’ number one wideout.

Rashee Rice (WR) - Kansas City Chiefs

  • Week 12 seemingly marked a massive turning point in the rookie season arc of Rashee Rice. The Chiefs’ first-year wideout saw career-highs in multiple usage metrics in Week 12 with a 31% Target Share,  29% Air Yards Share, and 68% Route Participation while finishing the game with a Target Per Route Run of 38%. Week 13 helped solidify Rice's ever-growing position as the Chiefs unquestioned WR1 as the rookie out-targeted Travis Kelce for the second consecutive contest. The market was slow to adjust to Rice's immense upside but appears to finally be growing wise on the utility provided in both youth and production.

NOTABLE MARKET FALLERS

Tee Higgins (WR) - Cincinnati Bengals

  • Tee Higgins has continuously regressed for two consecutive seasons after posting a WR12 finish alongside Ja'Marr Chase in the latter's rookie season. Higgins has since become a consistent underperformer in lineups with an understandable decline in Dynasty market value despite his potential to return to form with some solid signs pointing toward positive regression.

Austin Ekeler (RB) - Los Angeles Chargers

  • Not only has the Chargers offense fallen into a deep pit of dysfunction but Austin Ekeler has become a primary focus of the recent slump. The veteran running back has seemingly lost all burst, plodding his way to menial yardage while rescinding his respected reputation as a reception machine in PPR formats. Ekeler's age and lack of production have left Dynast managers no choice but to pivot off of the perennially ranked RB1.

Marquise Brown

  • While Kyler Murray and Trey McBride skyrocketed up the Dynasty ranks thanks in large part to the duo's ever-growing rapport, Marquise Brown continued to sink fantasy rosters and his trade value as a must-start asset. Brown is now dealing with a lower-body injury that could force him to miss time, causing a mad rush to flip the fan-favorite wideout for immediate production as the fantasy playoffs approach.

Terry McLaurin

  • Sam Howell and the Commanders have attempted 40 or more passes in eight of the team’s last ten games. Terry McLaurin has finished as a top-12 wide receiver only once during that span. The veteran wideout found himself facing new season-lows in Week 13 as he failed to catch any of his three targets, putting up 0.0 fantasy points despite playing 83.0% of the offensive snaps. Dynasty managers have grown increasingly impatient with McLaurin's remedial performances, especially while witnessing Curtis Samuel, Jahan Dotson, Logan Thomas, and Brian Robinson outscore the supposed star wideout on several occasions.

Dameon Pierce (RB) - Houston Texans

  • Dameon Pierce's unsustainable opportunity share from his 2023 rookie campaign has since crumbled under the successes of the Texans offense. C.J. Stroud has exceeded all expectations for a rookie quarterback, swiftly becoming one of the best pure passers in the NFL today and amongst the all-time greats in the pantheon of first-year gunslingers. Pierce's utility is rarely needed outside of pass-blocking as Devin Singletary has begun to surpass the bruising back as a more efficient big-play threat. As a fourth-round pick, Pierce has little to no value insulation, or job security, causing his market value to mirror his subsequent drop in on-field production.

DYNASTY WAIVER ADDS

Parker Washington (WR) - Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Christian Kirk is dealing with a potentially significant core injury while Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones have both been banged up on separate occasions in their own right. The Jaguars seem intent on developing rookie wide receiver Parker Washington in an attempt to bolster their wavering depth.

C.J Beathard (QB) - Jacksonville Jaguars

  • Trevor Lawrence suffered a high ankle sprain in the Jaguars Week 13 matchup. The star signal-caller is in danger of kissing several games with his injury designation which would leave C.J. Beathard as the contingency starter.

Xavier Gipson (WR) - New York Jets

  • Xavier Gipson unsuspectingly led the Jets’ offense in targets in Week 13 and presented managers with an interesting grab and stash as the team is currently operating with only one noteworthy receiver (Garrett Wilson).

Brevin Jordan (TE) - Houston Texans

  • Brevin Jordan should be rostered in all formats for as long as Dalton Schultz holds an injury designation.

Joe Flacco (QB) - Cleveland Browns

  • Hopefully, you've been following the Dynasty Market reports of the past and have already added Joe Flacco at the first signs of him joining the Browns practice squad. Whether a first-time reader or repeat listener, Flacco (along with all other starting quarterbacks) is a must-roster player in superflex leagues for his starting status alone. The veteran can provide decent scoring numbers for managers in desperate need of points.

BUY LOW

Tank Dell (WR) - Houston Texans

  • Tank Dell’s 2.24 Yards per Route Run represents the sixth-highest total by any rookie wide receiver who also maintained at least a 20.0% target share in a minimum of eight games played. The only other players in NFL history to hit those heights are Ja'Marr Chase, Odell Beckham Jr., Justin Jefferson, Chris Olave, and Marques Colston. If you have enough depth to supplement holding onto Dell through his injury recovery then you should absolutely take advantage of his current decline in market value.

Breece Hall (RB) - New York Jets

  • At the risk of speaking in absolutes, there are two things I am sure of when it comes to Breece Hall. Firstly, The Jets will not have Tim Boyle starting games in 2024 and will arguably never look as bad offensively as they do right now. Secondly, Hall will not be this cheap once the above-mentioned certainty occurs. The production dip is a noted risk that managers simply need to be comfortable with when it comes to acquiring a true cornerstone Dynasty asset on a current downswing.

SELL HIGH

Christian Watson (WR) - Green Bay Packers

  • Christian Watson had a get-right game in Week 13, catching two touchdowns for his first top-10 positional finish of the 2023 season. He also picked up ANOTHER hamstring injury in the process. Watson's boom-or-bust profile of touchdown dependency coupled with a high propensity for soft tissue injuries has managers pulling ugly memories of Will Fuller and other volatile assets of a similar makeup. Jordan Love's recent successes may be just enough to help push Watson's trade market value to a point that managers can make a savvy return on their initial investment.
