Week 17: Clay's DFS Corner

Welcome to the BRoto Weekly DFS article! Here we’re going to identify some of our favorite plays/fades and try to help you “bink” that GPP or smash in cash games! Let’s have another #printfest for Week 16!

Best games to choose players from:

  1. KC @ CIN O/U- 50

    • Implied totals: KC: 27.5, CIN: 22.5

  2. TB @ NYJ O/U- 46

    • Implied totals: TB: 29.5, NYJ: 16.5

  3. ARI @ DAL O/U- 51.5

    • Implied totals: ARI: 23.75, DAL: 27.75

Top plays GPP:

QB (Some of these plays may overlap with cash):

Kyler Murray ($8200 FD)

USA Today

Kyler bounced back from two disappointing outings last week vs. the Colts with 21.9 FanDuel points. The Dallas defense has been great, but their Achilles heel is rushing QBs. Dallas is allowing 61.7% points over average to QB rushing, and Kyler is coming off of a 74-yard rushing performance last week. I also suspect he will not be highly rostered.

Matthew Stafford ($7600 FD)

We all saw what the Bengals did to Baltimore last week, so what makes you think the Rams aren’t going to do that this week? Sure, Stafford struggled last week, but there’s no reason he can’t go for 300 passing yards and 2+ TDs this week against a banged up Ravens secondary that has been bleeding QB points. The only concern may be if the Ravens aren’t competitive, yet, I’d still feel comfortable going GPP and cash with Stafford.

Josh Allen ($8800)

With a lot of value at RB, I’m paying up for QB this week and that includes Josh Allen. The Bills are still a pass-first team and need to win to stay in the playoffs race. There’s certainly a chance we see Mitchel Trubisky, but not before Allen does his damage. He has also been on first, totaling 9 TDs over his past 3 games and 197 rushing yards over that span. Allen is absolutely GPP and Cash viable this week.

RB:

Devin Singletary ($5400 FD)

Finally, the Bills seem to be committing to one RB and that’s Singletary. He’s had 2 TDs in his last 3 games along with 14 targets over his last 3 games. In 4 of his last 5 games, Singletary has had 10 or more rushes in each game. Singletary is a great GPP play.

Damien Harris ($6600 FD)

Yahoo!

Harris has 5 TDs in his last 3 games. In his past 2 games, Harris has also put up over 100 rushing yards in each. It also helps Harris that the Jaguars defense is giving up 21.9% points over average to RB’s on the ground. Feel good about using Harris in GPPs this week.

WR:

Cooper Kupp ($9500 FD)

Both cash and GPP viable this week, Kupp gets the beat-up Ravens secondary. You can ignore the rostership here and just plug him in.

AJ Brown ($7200 FD)

AJ Brown is back and commanded 16 targets last week!!No, I don’t care about the tough Dolphins secondary. If someone is getting insane targets and target share, I’m playing them. Especially AJ Brown.

Gabe Davis ($5000 FD)

Sadly, Davis missed last week but is on track to clear COVID protocols this week. In Davis’ last 2 games played, he had 15 targets and 3 TDs combined. Allen is looking for Davis in the redzone as well, so take advantage of his cheap price tag this week.

TE:

Mark Andrews ($7400 FD)

USA Today

Hopefully, Lamar Jackson isn’t back so Andrews can continue to thrive. Andrews has been going bonkers lately! In his last 3 games, Andrews has:

  1. Gone over 100 receiving yards in each.

  2. Had one or more TDs in each.

  3. Has had 10 or more targets in each.

Throw Andrews in GPPs or cash.

Dallas Goedert ($5100 FD)

Goedert flopped last week, however, he gets the WFT this week, the same team he put up 7/135 earlier this season. Fire up Goedert at lower rostership this week.

D/ST:

NO D/ST ($3400)

Carolina has three QBs aka no QBs. This team is ready to pack it in and go on vacation. If the Saints offense is back, I’m targeting Carolina this week.

Top cash fades:

QB:

Joe Burrow ($6900 FD)

In two games played against the Ravens, Burrow finished as QB2 and QB1 overall, respectively. However, outside of those Ravens games, Burrow has finished no better than QB8. If you take his games against Baltimore away, he has not finished as a top 5 half-PPR QB and has only finished as a top-10 QB three times. I’m fading Burrow this week and you should too.

RB:

D’Andre Swift ($6000 FD)

He’s missed the last four games with injury. If you want to be sneaky and play him in GPPs that’s fine, but I’m not using him in cash. We don’t know how the workload will be split and the situation could turn into a RB committee.

Alvin Kamara ($9200 FD)

Last Monday night was miserable for the entire Saints offense. Now, the Saints draw another semi-tough matchup in the Panthers. The last time Kamara played the Panthers, he finished with a total of 5 FanDuel points, a dud. I think it’s safe to avoid Kamara in cash this week.

WR:

AJ Green ($5600 FD)

Maybe AJ Green is finally dust. He’s scored 10 FanDuel points just once in the last 5 games. Interestingly enough, volume isn’t the issue. Aside from an awful game against the Bears, AJG had 21 targets over his last 3 games. He’s mustered up one 100-yard receiving game with no TDs. He hasn’t seen the endzone since week 6. RIP AJG.

Jakobi Meyers ($5800 FD)

USA Today

Jakobi has a solid floor, but I like a little more upside in my cash lineups. He has one TD on the season and I don’t think that number will change against the Jaguars.

TE:

Travis Kelce ($8200 FD)

Kelce should be fine, however, most of the symptomatic COVID players have struggled in their first game back, and that makes me hesitate just a bit. He will maintain his floor but his ceiling might be more limited than usual.

Rob Gronkowski ($6700 FD)

Although the Bucs will be missing some key players Sunday, I doubt they struggle against the Jets. The Bucs could get up quickly and start resting some starters for the playoffs. Plus, there are other great options at TE this week.

D/ST:

TB D/ST ($4900 FD)

Tampa has a lot of defensive starters out, specifically pass-rushers. Zach Wilson hasn’t been good but he could put up garbage time numbers. Spend that $4900 elsewhere this week.

Top Plays Cash:

QB:

Patrick Mahomes ($8500 FD)

After a few ugly games against Dallas and Denver, Mahomes is heating up with eight TDs in his last 3 games. He seems like a safe bet this week.

Josh Allen ($8800 FD)

See GPP section.

Matt Stafford ($8500 FD)

See GPP section.

Trey Lance ($6400 FD)

Jimmy G is doubtful so it should be the Trey Lance experience this week. He gets a great matchup against the Texans, who are giving up 9.7% points over average to QBs (9th best matchup). He’s cheap, he can run, has a great matchup and has great weapons: check, check, check, check.

RB:

Jonathan Tayor ($10000 FD)

Colts.com

JT has 100 rushing yards or more in 4 of his last 5 games. Whoever is at QB, Carson Wentz or Carson Daily, it doesn’t matter, you can count on 100+ rushing yards for JT again this week. The Raiders are giving up 26.8% points over average to RBs. Which, per Broto, is the 4th best matchup for RBs. It;s possible JT goes for 200yds.

David Montgomery ($7200 FD)

Montgomery is getting some serious work lately. He’s had 17 or more rushes in four of his last five games and six or more targets in his last four games. Add in the eighth-best matchup for RBs in the Giants defense and he could finally explode with the workload he’s receiving.

Ronald Jones ($7000 FD)

If Rojo were facing any team other than the Jets, I wouldn’t mention him but, he gets the Jets. Keshawn Vaughn getting more work is worrisome but this game should allow for ample opportunity for both Rojo and Vaughn. The Jets are the best matchup for RBs, giving up 59.1% points over average to running backs.

WR:

Cooper Kupp ($10200 FD)

Another week, another double-digit target and reception week for Kupp. The only question here is do you play Kupp or JT this week?

Deebo Samuel ($9000 FD)

He’s back to being a WR just in time for Trey Lance to pepper him with targets. Deebo had 11 targets last week and still had 5/32 on the ground. Start the San Francisco Deebo’s this week.

Jaylen Waddle ($7000 FD)

Waddle gets to face the same defense Deebo just torched for 9/159.

TE:

Mark Andrews ($8700 FD)

Lamar Jackson should be out this game, so that means play Andrews. He has 34 targets over his last three games along with four TDs. Find a way to get Andrews in that lineup.

Foster Moreau ($7100 FD)

Darren Waller is out again and Moreau draws the 3rd best matchup for TEs in the Colts. The Colts are currently allowing 46.6% points over average to TEs. Foster, Australian for beer and cost-effective TE play in DFS.

D/ST:

NO D/ST ($4700 FD)

The Panthers. The End.

PHI D/ST ($4300 FD)

There are reports that Kyle Allen may find a way to play in this game. That means PHI D/ST is a strong play.

Lone-ranger play:

Gabe Davis ($5300 FD)

I know I mentioned him earlier, but Davis is a guy that could blow up this week. He has 15 targets over his last two games played and three TDs in that span. He seems to have taken over the redzone role from Dawson Knox. Expect Davis to have a big week.

  1. You can get quite unique with KC stacks and run-backs as well.

  2. Boston Scott could be a huge boost to your DFS lineup if Jordan Howard misses, make sure you check inactives.

  3. Again, I love double-TE this week for large field GPPs this week.

I would like to end on a serious note. If you haven’t heard, Jeff Dickerson, a reporter for ESPN, passed away a few days ago. The reason this story really hit me was that his son, Parker Dickerson, also lost his mom about 2 years ago. So, I’d like to promote Parker’s Fund on gofundme.com https://gofund.me/816db65d. If you can give, great!! If you can retweet, that works as well. Thank you for your kindness.

With that in mind, I’d also like to take this time to encourage you, if you are married and/or have children, to go make a living will. Make a New Year’s Resolution to have it known what you would want done with your children, assets, etc. if you were to suddenly pass away. I’ve put it off for the longest time, but this tragedy is a reminder to try to have things prepared. I would never want to imagine a world where my 4-year-old daughter Ellie was without her father and/or mother, but I also need to have legal documents ready just in case something were to happen. So, I encourage you to do the same.
