Week 3: DFS Quick Hits

Welcome to DFS Quick hits! Before setting those DFS lineups, check out which High Priced Options and which Bargain options should set the basis for your lineups for week 3!

QB

High Priced Option

Kyler Murray: $9,000 (FD) $8,300 (DK)

The former Heisman trophy winner has put up over 34.0 fantasy points in each of his first two games this season. When healthy, Murray is the best fantasy QB in the NFL. As my fellow BRoto writer Matt Ward says: K1=QB1.

Heading into week three, the 2-0 Arizona Cardinals head to Jacksonville to take on the 0-2 Jaguars. In the first two games of the season, the Jaguars have given up 37 points to the Tyrod Taylor led Houston Texans and 23 points to Teddy Bridgewater and the Denver Broncos. Neither one of those guys is Kyler Murray.

Even if you expect this game to be a blowout, which it very well could be, it won’t be because the Cardinals played “ground-and-pound-football.” It’ll be because of Murray’s excellence. Even though he’s priced high for a QB on both FanDuel and Draftkings, Murray is a safe bet for 25+ fantasy points against a porous Jags defense.

Bargain

Jared Goff: $7,100 (FD) $5,200 (DK)

Through the first two weeks of the 2021 NFL season, Jared Goff is tied with Las Vegas Raiders’ QB Derek Carr for the most passing attempts in the league (93). That’s in large part due to the fact that the Lions have been playing catch-up in both of their games this season--and that will likely remain the same against the Baltimore Ravens.

As 7.5 point underdogs, the Lions will have to come from behind again if they want to remain competitive. In fact, this could be a hangover game for the injured Ravens after a huge Sunday night win. I like Goff as an-under-the-radar play for DFS tournaments.

RB

High Priced Option

Dalvin Cook: $9,500 (FD) $8,400 (DK)

Dalvin Cook is coming off of a game in which he rushed for 131 yards despite missing some time due to an ankle injury. This is a wonderful matchup and Cook may be lower-owned because of his injury.

Cook is going against a Seattle Seahawks defense that, through two weeks, ranks second to last in rushing yards allowed per game (162.5). Whatever Cook’s over/under rushing prop bet is, I’d take the over. If he plays, that is.

Bargain

Saquon Barkley: $6,000 (FD) $6,500 (DK)

I can’t believe I’m saying this but Saquon Barkley is a bargain play this week. That’s right, at just $6,500 on DraftKings and $6,000 on FanDuel, you can get a top five running back in football. The Giants are at home on long rest (last played onThursday night) going up against one of the worst defenses in football in the Atlanta Falcons. Don’t overthink this, have Saquan in your lineup for week 3.

WR

High Priced Option

Stefon Diggs: $7,700 (FD) $7,600 (DK)

Digss has yet to have a massive game this season but has been very solid, posting 15.9 and 16.0 fantasy points in week 1 and week 2, respectively. He’s also done this while Josh Allen has struggled to start the season. Now going against the Washington defense that let Daniel Jones have a day last week, Allen and Diggs are set up nicely to have a big day and will likely be low-rostered.

Bargain

Robert Woods: $6,100 (FD) $5,700 (DK)

Woods has yet to turn fantasy managers heads this season, which is largely due to fellow wide-out Cooper Kupp’s performance. Through two weeks, Kupp is WR2 overall and has established himself as Stafford’s favorite target. If defenses begin to focus more on stopping Cooper Kupp, Woods will be the main beneficiary. That could start as soon as this week, as the Rams may be pass-happy with Henderson either hobbled or out.

In a game against the high-octane offense of the ageless Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, look for Woods to have a big day in a high-scoring affair.

TE

High Priced Option

Darren Waller: $7,400 (FD) $7,400 (DK)

Through two weeks, nobody has seen more targets in the entire NFL than Darren Waller (26)! The Raiders offensive game plan is simply to just get it to Waller as much as possible and you know what? It’s working pretty well so far.

Bargain

TJ Hockenson: $6,300 (FD) $5,200 (DK)

Nobody should be calling TJ Hockenson a sleeper but at his price-point on DraftKings ($5,200), it sure looks like he is. Hockenson has put up over 20 fantasy points in the Lions first two games this season, as Jared Goff and Hock have a clear connection that should remain going forward. In an assumed high-scoring affair, fire up Hock at a great price.

DST

High Priced Option

Denver Broncos: $5,000 (FD) $4,300 (DK)

After the Broncos two week road trip where they took care of business against the Giants and Jaguars, they now get to head home to take on the 0-2 New York Jets. Look at what New England did to the Jets last week, recognize that Denver has a very good defense, and insert them into your lineup.

Bargain

Cincinnati Bengals: $3,400 (FD) $2,100 (DK)

As the fifth lowest costing defense on FanDuel and third lowest on Draftkings, you’re actually getting a pretty good bargain with the Cincinnati defense.

Cincinnati travels to Pittsburgh for week 3 to take on a Steelers offense that has looked nothing like years past. The main reason for that has been the poor play of QB Ben Roethlisberger. At 39-years-old, Big Ben has looked like his arm strength is declining every day and now he is tending to a left pectoral injury. Cincinnati defense could be a cheap gem.
