Week 9: Betting with Schiz

Last week we had some fun by changing up the format a bit. Sadly, the triple underdog parlay did not hit (shoutout to the Detroit Lions for not showing up), but the same game parlay for the Los Angeles Rams game hit comfortably as did the over in the New Orleans Saints/Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. Also, in the Mix and Match Parlay section, three of the five touchdown scorers found the endzone and despite several upsets, three of the six game picks/spreads were successful as well. Hopefully the BRoto Bets faithful were able to construct a few winners!

Let’s look at Week 9 and keep piling up that cash!

Favorite Plays:

Los Angeles Chargers -2 @ Philadelphia Eagles (-110)

Yahoo!

Even though the Chargers have disappointed fans twice in a row now, they are still a good football team. The Eagles on the other hand, are not. Don’t overthink it.

At less than a score to cover, this is a must play for anybody who even remotely believes in Justin Herbert and the Chargers.

Arizona Cardinals -1 @ San Francisco 49ers (-110)

If it wasn’t for AJ Green running the wrong route, the Cardinals likely would have beaten the Packers last Thursday night. Sure, Davante Adams didn’t play, but the Packers are still one of the most formidable teams in the league.

On the other side of this Week 9 matchup, the three-win 49ers have only beaten the Lions, Eagles, and Chicago Bears. Those are three bad teams!

While San Francisco have played some good teams very closely, they have not shown enough to give bettors confidence that they can prevail over division rival Arizona.

Tennessee Titans +7.5 @ Los Angeles Rams

The Titans are finally blossoming into the team they were supposed to be coming into the season. Defeating the Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, and Indianapolis Colts in consecutive weeks, AJ Brown and Ryan Tannehill are tearing up the field on offense. Tennessee’s defense has also taken significant strides from their porous start to the season.

Derrick Henry may be out for the season, which is a huge hit to this Titans team, but no moment has been too big for them all season. The Titans have a great opportunity to add a close road victory over the Rams to their resume.

Parlay:

Buffalo Bills Alt -6.5, Dallas Cowboys Alt. -2.5, Los Angeles Chargers ML, Tennessee Titans @ Los Angeles Rams Alt. o49.5 - +371

This is a relatively “safe” parlay. Typically, it is best to avoid taking multiple score spreads in parlays, so doctoring the heavily favored Bills and Cowboys spreads to a single TD and FG respectively keeps some value in the mix rather than taking unimpactful money lines. The Chargers are adjusted to the ML instead of the spread, and the Titans/Rams, who should hit their 53.5 point over anyway, are brought down for more safety.

Underdog Parlay:

Cleveland Browns +112 @ Cincinnati Bengals

Minnesota Vikings +215 @ Baltimore Ravens

Tennessee Titans +290 @ Los Angeles Rams

+2504

The Browns have faced their share of struggles this season but they still pose an excellent rushing game and defense. The Bengals, coming off an insane upset loss to the Jets, could be vulnerable to Kevin Stefanski’s coaching schemes.

The Vikings have yet to lose a game by more than one score, both rising to the level of good opponents and playing down to lesser ones. This week they have a great opportunity to rise to the level of the Ravens, who have had their own share of woes against inferior competition (looking at you Lions and Colts).

We’ve discussed the Titans enough already. They have a good chance to make some noise against the Rams this week and it will be fun to watch them do it. Just sprinkle a little bit on this one and enjoy the ride!

Mix and Match Parlay Pieces:

There are a lot of games this week that could go either way, so I stuck to scorers for this section:

Ja’Marr Chase Anytime TD Scorer

Cooper Kupp Anytime TD Scorer

James Conner Anytime TD Scorer

Austin Ekeler Anytime TD Scorer

Cordarrelle Patterson Anytime TD Scorer

All five of these players have shown a propensity for the endzone and have been the main beneficiaries in the redzone for their teams. Take the two you like the most and wager big, take all five and wager smaller, or somewhere in between. Have some fun with it!
