Week 4 Devy Dives: College Players To Watch

Welcome to The BRoto “Devy Dives” series, where once a week we take a look at some of the biggest names and breakouts in College Football. Throughout this series, we will take an in-depth look at five players who either shone bright or failed to make an impact in the weekly slate of games. With the Devy and Dynasty Fantasy Football communities becoming more and more popular, this short read is your one-stop-shop for weekly updates on some players you need to keep your eye on!

Blake Corum, RB, Michigan (Junior)

Let’s all stop for a moment and appreciate the absolute dominance Blake Corum has displayed over the past two weeks. In a Week 3 shutout of Connecticut, the Michigan back handled just 12 rushing attempts but made the most of them by scoring an astonishing five times. After such an explosive showing, Corum kept his foot on the gas going into a Week 4 clash with the then 3-0 Maryland Terrapins. In what ended up being a 34-27 slugfest, Corum was the star of the show. The young runner handled 30 (yes, three-zero) carries for a mind-blowing 243 yards and another two scores, bringing his two-week tally up to 314 yards and seven touchdowns on just 42 attempts. Despite a lack of receiving skills, the rushing ability will translate to the next level and Corum could easily handle early-down and goal-line touches in a successful NFL offense, keeping him firmly on Devy and Dynasty radars.

Jaydn Ott, RB, California (Freshman)

Look out for this Freshman class! Just two weeks after Penn State rusher and top ranked running back from the 2022 recruiting class Nick Singleton made the “Devy Dives” list, California Freshman Jadyn Ott made waves of his own in a 49-31 victory over Arizona, showing that maybe collegiate scouts were wrong to rank him only as a four-star recruit.

If you thought Corum’s performance above was stunning, Ott was on another level altogether. The Freshman running back had a performance for the ages, racking up an inconceivable 274 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries. As he continues to adjust to the collegiate level and push for more consistent snaps on the Cal offense, Ott might be making an early run at being the top-rated running back in the 2025 NFL draft. For now, you might be able to get a discount on the potential superstar in the making.

Fotis Kokosioulis, WR, Fordham (Senior)

Hudl

Maybe it’s too late for Kokosioulis to make an impact at the next level. After opening his collegiate career with Northern Illinois in 2018, Kokosioulis transferred to FCS Fordham and showed flashes throughout his first three seasons. Now, though, the Senior is putting his name on the radar with a flourish, amassing a whopping 45 receptions, 725 yards, and 8 touchdowns through just four games, with none being as impressive as his performance in a Week 4 loss to Ohio.

Kokosioulis was quite simply unguardable on the day, tallying touchdown receptions of 33, 74, 45, and 84 yards en route to a 13-catch, 320-yard outing. Say all you want about the level of competition, but those numbers more than speak for themselves and toward just how dominant Kokosioulis was. He is a bit on the older side and hasn’t done enough in previous seasons to prove continued success at the next level but if he can continue to steadily rack up numbers and show that he can play well above his level of competition, he might be well on his way to finding a spot on an NFL roster with a chance to make an impact in the right situation. For now, he is definitely a name to monitor.

Nathaniel “Tank” Dell, WR, Houston (Junior)

As a Sophomore in 2021, Dell broke out with authority, hauling in 90 passes for 1,329 yards and 12 scores, leading the 17th ranked Cougars in all three categories by a wide margin. Thus far into his Junior season, he seems to be picking up where he left off, with 380 yards and three touchdowns on 25 catches through four games, culminating in an explosive display against Rice in what has become somewhat of the norm for the third-year receiver. With a close game at hand in what ended as a 34-27 affair, Dell took the on the load for the passing offense, hauling in seven passes for 134 yards and a score, with his 19.1 YPC being the fourth highest total of his career. His performance landed him a spot on the PFF college football team of the week and he looks to continue his path to the NFL as the season progresses. Albeit undersized, Dell should stick on an NFL roster as an elite deep threat and could have some big weeks on the biggest stage in football.

Will Rogers, QB, Mississippi State (Junior)

Mississippi State Athletics

Each week, I try to include at least one quarterback on the “Devy Dives” list. This week, while many scouts are looking at Clemson signal caller D.J. Uiagalelei who finally had the type of game people had been expecting from him since 2020, I decided to zag and go with another huge performer, this time from Mississippi State’s Will Rogers.

After a decent-yet-disappointing outing against LSU in Week 3, Rogers rebounded in a massive way against Bowling Green. The Junior quarterback controlled the entire game with ease, smacking around the Falcons’ secondary to the tune of 409 yards and six scores through the air. Even that might not be his most impressive performance of the season, though, as Rogers went for 450 yards and five touchdowns in Week 1 against Memphis. Rogers is looking like a Day-Two quarterback in the 2023 NFL draft, but keep an eye on him to see if he impresses enough the rest of the way to vault his name into the first round.
